Native flowers

Aegopodium podagraria

Aegopodium podagraria, Ground elder, Bishop’s Weed, Bishop’s Goutweed, Herb Gerard

To be quite honest, I think my best flower arrangement ever is in the picture above. It doesn’t need a lot. What I’ve learned while doing flower arrangements using native plants, is that I really don’t know them. So, when I’m telling you this is Aegopodium podagraria a.k.a Bishop’s Weed a.k.a Bishop’s Goutweed a.k.a Herb Gerard, it may very well not be. Sometimes it is very hard to differentiate a plant from another.

And here is some meadowsweet from July 2015.

So, all pictures in this post are from summer 2015. I was very excited about flower arranging, it was my first ikebana-summer. I had taken some classes in Helsinki the previous spring. I remember doing these arrangements late at nights. And also walking around late at nights, looking for plant material. It was very cold summer, but the native flowers were blooming like I’d never seen before.

The deep purple in the picture below is some sort of Cirsium. The pale pink flower I haven’t been able to identify, hopefully it’s not any endangered plant.

Let’s finish with this roundish bouquet below.

Metsäkurjenpolvi

Metsäkurjenpolvi

Tässä kaksi eri versiota viime kesänä erääseen kellarikoppiin tekemistäni töistä. Ylimmäisessä kuvassa tien varrelta kerättyjen metsäkurjenpolvien seurana on kuivia risuja, joihin sihautin vähän spraymaalia. Taustana asfaltinharmaalla maalattuja pöytälevyjä. [Read more…]

What Do You Do For Living? is made of clay pots, brushes and flowers.

This time I post a collection of work which doesn’t seem to have a lot in common, a mixture without a theme.  I’ll keep the text short, but feel free to ask anything related to these works. I’ll be more than happy to answer. [Read more…]

Tällä kertaa yritän olla jorisematta turhia. Kuvat puhukoot puolestaan. Vastaan toki kysymyksiin jos jotakuta kiinnostaa tietää enemmän. [Read more…]
